I look forward to this day like it’s Thanksgiving! I remember as a child my parents would get me and my brothers ready for church and mom would be in the kitchen putting on dinner. She would have everything slow cooking so that by the time we came from church we would all be ready to dig in! Oh the smell of greens simmering, a pot roast slow cooking, and when we would come home she put the corn bread on. Us southerners gotta have some corn bread with our soul food just like we gotta have grits with our breakfast. We like that good food that’s going to stick to our bones and in my case… My back πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘. Then I have to work out two months to get the back fat off.. Should have put the fat back down but no, I just have to bite a piece whenever I’m making fried corn. One piece turns out to be three pieces. Oh well. I eat it happily and pay for it happily when I work out. Maybe not as happily but still… Ok I at least I crack a smile when I’m on the bench press.. I like soul food and the spirit behind it. It brings families and friends Β together to laugh, reminisce and just have a good fellowship. To this day I look forward to Sunday’s. It reminds me to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and to sit back, relax, spend some quality time with those who mean the most to me while we enjoy some good Sunday dinner and wash it down with some sweet tea.

Today has been a really trying day for me. It all started with a text message from USPS regarding the package that I have yet to receive. Yes this is the same package that I was frustrated about last week. I was actually good and not worried about the packages and I said “Lord I put it in your hands and I trust that the packages will come.” To make a long story short my items has been going back and forth from the sorting facility to the post office where I lived several months ago. I changed my address with USPS but my items aren’t being forwarded to me instead they’re floating around to only God knows where. I will not bore you with details about my whole day but basically it all started with that text that triggered anger and I was frustrated the whole day. By evening I began to calm down and I thought about Peter. As long as Peter had his focus on Jesus he was fine but, as soon as the wind and the waves came he took his focus off Jesus and looked at the circumstances around him. I was reminded that I am a lot like Peter. God had already given me peace and I was content with receiving my package whenever it came. But when I received the text message Β saying that it was sent to my old address and that it was undeliverable, I became frustrated because I don’t understand why the post office isn’t using my new address that I updated with USPS to forward my items to me. Clearly the enemy knows what to do to tick us off… I had to repent and ask God to give me peace. I also had to thank him because I already had asked him to take care of this matter and I know he is but… Circumstances… I just pray that God keep my eyes on him so I can pay attention to him and not be distracted by the storms around me. Matthew 14:22-33. I have so much more to be thankful for and some people don’t even have a shelter for anything to be forwarded to them so, like that old gospel song say “I won’t complain.”πŸ™‚

Sometimes the pressures of life can come banging on our door early in the morning like an unwanted guest. Usually when this happens you may go about with a stale face like you’ve been sucking on a lemon all morning. Lighten up, this too shall pass. I will be the first to admit that sometimes I dread being an adult. Oh the good old days when I was a child and I only had to worry about the Buggie Monster, or doing my chores so that I could go outside and then I’d have nightmares about my brother drinking my kool-aid. Now the Buggie Monster has been replaced with bills, my chores has been replaced with too many things to do and not enough time and my nightmares has been replaced with getting off work only to come home and sleep then dream about work just to get up and go to work again. πŸ˜‘ Tuesday was definitely my Monday but that all changed by the afternoon and my frown turned upside down and a smile crept through and then a laugh! No I didn’t win the lottery but I got something that’s priceless instead. Someone came along and lightened my load by simply making me laugh. After I laughed I felt a thousand times better and my problems seemed like a small thing to a giant! Afterwards I told myself “See, you need to lighten up! Everything will be ok! What are you worrying for?” (Matthew 6:25-34) Sometimes we want to be alone when life throws us it’s many challenges but during that time we need to embrace our family and friends and focus on what’s more important. The people that are close to you don’t want to see you down and I guarantee if you surround yourself with people close to you then you’ll feel better. Even if you’re good at hiding what you’re going through somehow they know when something is wrong and without asking you a thing they’ll do something to take a load off and a lot of times it’s doing something as simple as making you laugh!πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚ Thank God for family and friends! Here’s to you guys for reminding us that life is to grand to sweat the small stuff, cherish the people around you, take a load off and lighten up. ☺️

If you want to read a book that teaches us about the consequences of our actions then a great place to start is in the bible with the book of Genesis, Chapter 3 to be exact. We all know the story and if you’re unfamiliar then take a couple of minutes out of your day and read it. Isn’t it odd that whenever we get into any kind of trouble that we always play the blame game. Even as toddlers. “Little Timmy, why did you take Suzie’s doll?” And in his little 3 year old voice he’ll say “Darren took my truck so I took Suzie’s doll.” Even though it was wrong for Darren to take Timmy’s truck, that still doesn’t justify Timmy taking Suzie’s doll. We all have to pay for our actions and for every action there’s a reaction. Sometimes it seems like everyone else can get away with murder but if we so much as look at someone the wrong way then we’re in trouble. Thank God for his mercy. We have to give an account for our actions. A lot of bad choices we make comes from our emotions and we act on that impulse and sadly we reap the consequences. But God is faithful and even in our mess he turns it into a message. God gives us fair warning about everything and he also gives us a choice to do it the right way or the way that seems right to us. Even when we do it our way and reap the not so great reward of our actions he is still right there helping us to get back on track with a heart full of compassion. 😊 He knows that many of us are knuckle heads and it may take several falls for us to learn how to walk. Don’t get discouraged my friends just pick yourself up, dust off and learn from your mistakes and try again. It is no surprise to God when we fall. He knew us before we were woven in our mother’s womb. We just have to get past the point of blaming him for what we as humans have control over. We have created every problem that the world face, not God. He has shown us how to fix the problem and the simplest way is through Love. We have to stop playing the blame game and take responsibility for our actions. So my dear friends I just want to encourage you that no matter what consequence you’re facing at the present remember God is always merciful and he proved it while we were yet in sin he sent his only begotten son, Jesus. 😍

Confidence my dear friends… Confidence 😊. Β Oh that’s all there is to it? Why thank you! I’ll remember to have confidence on the day that I attend a Nelly concert and declare to him that he was made for me after I squeeze my way through the other hundred thousand of screaming women declaring the same thing and after I wrestle with security to get back stage. Sure I will be standing on one broken stiletto heel, my hair will look like I’ve been in a chicken fight from other women trying to pull me away. My clothes may be a little dusty from security dragging me out but I will stand proud and he will hear me out! Then afterwards I will proudly limp my way to my car on my one broken stiletto heel but not before looking around the floor to see if I can find the other heel that I lost during the stampede of screaming women. πŸ˜„ On a more serious note confidence is only half the battle. Ladies, you can’t expect a doctor to be your future husband if you’re entertaining drug dealers. Fellas you can’t expect a Halle Berry if you’re trying holler at every woman you see. First you have to make sure that you have yourself together. You can’t just come at people any kind of way. If you are trying to attract someone who has their own money and likes to dine at restaurants where filet mignon and lobster is served you can’t come at them looking like Mickey D’s dollar menu… I’m just saying… You want to make a good first impression just like in an interview. If you want to be first draft pick then you have to get your game up. Position yourself to where you need to be so that you can get to wherever it is you’re trying to go. Next you have to open your mouth. Come on, you can do it. I know it seems hard but it’s really not. Try it. Open your mouth and say “Ahhh!” See, that wasn’t hard. Now that don’t mean go up to your crush at the gym and open your mouth to say “Ahhh!” They’re going to think you’re crazy or you have a toothache or something. Somebody may even like it… Who knows? How will the person know that your interested if you never say anything? Are you going to wait on the guy at the gym to come over and make the first move or will you? You never know what could happen if you don’t make that move. Lastly, don’t settle. Β If it’s worth having then it’s worth waiting for. You may have to put in extra effort but don’t let that stop you. Now that’s enough of chatting on the bench while watching the game. It’s time to get into position and tell yourself I’m going for mine!

Ever feel like the above picture? Trying to juggle life can be both exciting and stressful at times. We’re trying to study for final exams on only an hour of sleep because we work a full time job not to mention Jr. just went to sleep at 5am the same time the alarm went off for you to make your husband a cup of coffee, straighten his tie and kiss him before he’s off to work. “I just need some time to myself. “Not right now baby, mama is using the potty.” ” Sorry that I can’t make the football game son, daddy has to work.” How many times we’ve said these things not realizing how it affects our loved ones? Don’t get me wrong, every now and then we need to set aside some “me” time for ourselves. There is nothing wrong with some peace and quiet every now and then to collect our thoughts. A vacation is definitely helpful as well. All I’m saying is never be too busy to be bothered by loved ones. I know personally that I’m happy to get a break whenever my kids go out of town with their grandmother but five minutes after they leave I be like a sick puppy by the door waiting for them to come back. 🐢 We have to cherish our kids, our spouse, parents, relatives and close friends even when their a headache. They need us and depend on us for something that only we can give. There will come a day that our kids will grow up and we’ll miss the days that they use to bother us. I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but we don’t live forever either so, cherish every moment and never be too busy to be bothered. 😘

We may hear this a lot whether it comes up as a discussion amongst friends or if you know someone that always receives the short end of the stick. πŸ˜‰ You may even be that person .😎 Have no fear I’m here to give some insight to this mystery. Now that I have your attention let me direct you to a personal question. What is keeping you from making an impact on the world? I know a lot of y’all may be thinking. What? Yeah I threw a curve ball at y’all! Y’all was looking to left field but I hit it right. πŸ™ƒ Believe it or not I came across this pondering question while taking a dump! πŸ’© It may not sound lady like but it’s real. We all do it no matter how cute we are. Anyways, to get back on topic I want to make you think about something. It’s not the size but the impact. Now repeat the previous sentence…. You don’t have to be a billionaire or an A list celebrity to make an impact on the world. What are you doing today that will positively impact someone on your job, at home, at the grocery store or taking a walk in your neighborhood? It may seem like you have to do a lot but I assure you that something as little as a friendly smile or an encouraging word can be all a person needs to make their day. Kindness is contagious! Your act of kindness to one person can result in someone else being blessed and before you know it you could even save a life! 😊 So for the burning question in your mind. Size does not matter but the impact does! You may say “What can little old me do that will make an impact on this big world?” Be the best you that you can be and spread the love! Come on, you can do it! It’s not rocket science. So if you’ve been getting the short end of the stick in your job, relationships, finances or whatever it maybe, I challenge you to move some things around, change up your game, you may even have to deal with being in an uncomfortable situation for a while (come on Holy Spirit, I just felt something in my spirit y’all) but do whatever it is that you need to do to make your climax and not just any climax but your major climax! 😬 I may have lost a few of y’all again but I assure you that I am not talking about sex. I’m talking about reaching the point of it all and doing it at your BEST because it’s not the size that counts but the impact!

My philosophy is “A better me today makes a greater me tomorrow.” We all have dreams, aspirations or things we simply can improve on. What keeps us from reaching those goals? Most of the time it’s ourselves. God has given us all a talent and a purpose. Some people spend a lifetime trying to figure out what their purpose is. It may seem far fetched but it’s really simple. What is the one thing that you love doing? Not only do you love doing it but you’re great at it and it not only benefit you but it benefits others as well. No I’m not talking about sitting around watching T.V. looking at other people live their dream. What are you doing to make your today better so that your tomorrow can be even greater? For me it’s writing. I knew that I would be an author someday since I was eight years old and every chance I get, I’m making those small steps today that will eventually get me to my greater tomorrow. The road will be ruff sometimes and the rain will pour but keep going, keep pushing and keep pressing! ☺️ So I encourage anyone who has put a dream on hold whether it’s something as small as planting a garden. Remember the seed you plant today could feed a million people tomorrow. Much love. πŸ™‚

Wouldn’t it though? I could use a vacation right about now. Not just one of those getaways or even 7 day vacations either. But one of those I’ll send you a post card vacations because I don’t know when I’ll be back! Has God already pre warned you about something and told you what to hold your peace about a situation but when the time came you did what you “felt” was right at the time and not exactly what God told you? Yeah, well today that happened to me… After a frustrating day of trying to track a couple of packages that I was supposed to receive in the mail I attempted to get some answers from the local USPS Sorting Facility. Well the guy who answered my phone call was having a pretty frustrating day as well and was getting short with me and all I wanted to know was when my packages would arrive. To make a long story short he hung up in my face and immediately everything God said went out the window. 😑 I speed dailed the Sorting facility back and the guy did not answer. Lucky him… He was going to get a piece of my mind today and frustration is only the beginning of what he would have felt. Anyways I’m saying all of that to say this. He could have picked up the phone and I could have gave him the bizzness not business because he wouldn’t have benefited not one red cent off what I was going to say. But God cut that conversation short and the guy didn’t know it but it was God who stopped him from answering the phone when I called back. Ain’t God good! 😊He knows that we can be a handful at times and he gets us out of situations even when we are hard headed. I was so mad by how rude that guy was and could have made a bad decision that could delay my mail even further or even could have gotten him fired. But God always intervene in situations like this because he knows I’m a knuckle head. My prayer for today is that God forgive me for not listening to your wisdom and forgive me for acting on emotional impulses. Help me to believe that you are working everything out for my good and I don’t ever need to be anxious about anything. In Jesus name. Amen. ☺️ Scripture reading Β Philippians 4:6-7

Well it isn’t exactly on the calendar but every day is “their” day. Who are “they”? Well I’m glad you asked. My four daughters of course. They range in age from 10 to 16 and they remind me of it everyday. From my 15 year old bribing my 10 and 11 year old to do her chores for candy or some of her chips πŸ˜‘ to them arguing over who wore who’s headband while a line pile up at the bathroom door as they tell my 16 year old to get out of the bathroom mirror taking selfies so that they can pee! πŸ˜† Oh the joys! They are overall very good kids though. They are doing very well in school, and they help out a lot around the house. Even though the house may seem out of balance at times they keep me well balanced. Sometimes I want to scream and my youngest daughter will quote a scripture to get me back on track. My 11 year old is very giving and she calms a lot of chaos in the house (even if she causes it) by always sharing and being the bigger person. My 15 year old helps out a lot and makes sure that her little sisters are doing what they are supposed to (including doing her chores) and last but not least my 16 year old who is the replica of me. She always comes to spend time with me and let me know what’s going on in her life (after she talks to her friends on the phone and finish posting selfies online). They grow up so fast and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. They remind me that I do have someone who is looking up to me and everyday that God grants me life I’m reminded that today is “Daughters day”! 😊
