Enjoy! 😊

It was the night of the Christmas party, and the guests were beginning to arrive at TJ’s house. Thirty minutes later, and no sign of the girls. “Where are they? Black folks are always late, dang. I should have told them the party started at six, maybe they would have gotten here at eight like they were supposed to.

Let me call them to see where they are,” Lisa said, as she went inside one of the guest rooms. TJ was busy talking to some of his colleagues, until one of them asked where was the woman he’s always bragging about. “Good question. Excuse me for a minute,” TJ said, before going to look for Lisa. He went upstairs to his bedroom, and checked the bathrooms and the guest rooms upstairs, but she wasn’t there.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and called her. “Babe, where did you go? I want to introduce you to my people,” he said. “Hey, babe. I had to make a quick phone call.

I’m downstairs in the guest room,” Lisa said. “Okay, is everything okay?” “Yeah, I was just checking on my girls. The GPS can be tricky in this area, so I was making sure that they’re straight.” “Okay, are they good?”

“Yeah, they’re on the way,” Lisa said. TJ came into the guest room and closed the door. “Hey, beautiful, I haven’t seen you since before the party started. Are you sure that you’re okay?” he said. “Yes, of course,” Lisa said.

“Okay, because everyone’s asking about you. They want to meet you,” TJ said. “Um, can I be honest with you TJ?” “Sure, baby. What’s on your mind?”

“I have social anxiety. I’ve been freaking out since you invited me to the party, but I didn’t want to let you down, so I agreed to come.” “Oh, baby. I’m sorry. I had no idea.

I just thought it would be a great way to introduce my favorite girl, to,” TJ said, before Lisa cut him off. “Your favorite girl?” she said, as if TJ was mistaken. “I mean, my only girl, babe, you know what I meant,” TJ said. “I know, babe. I’m just kidding with you,” Lisa said.

There were three knocks on the door. TJ slightly opened the door. “Sir, Ms. Lisa’s guests are here,” the house keeper said. “Thank God,” Lisa said. “You can send them in,” TJ said. “I’d better get back out there.

I don’t want to be rude to my guests,” TJ said. “Wait, let me introduce you to my girls right quick. The women walked in and Lisa introduced everyone. Afterwards, TJ  left the room to be with his guests. “Girl, this house is huge, and nice,” Koreyn said.

“It is a nice house, but it’s also a nice party out there, so, why are we in here?” Tanesha said. “We’re in here because I was waiting on the three of you,” Lisa said. “Hold up, it’s 8:45. You mean to tell me that you’ve had that man out there entertaining guests by himself for the last forty five minutes?” Janita said. “You all know how I am around people.

That’s why I work alone, and never go out unless I have to,” Lisa said. “Girl, and going out is how you met your man. If you would have never went to the grocery store that day, and asked Tanesha to bring you the items instead, like you’d planned, that might have been her out there, or maybe even someone else. Listen, just like you did what you had to do to go get whatever it was you needed from the store. You need to do what you have to do to support your man.

It’s time to come out of your comfort zone, my friend. This is going to be your reality if you truly love this man. He’s a people’s person, and he’s well known not only in Charlotte, but throughout North Carolina and the surrounding states as one of the best heart surgeons in this region. I did my research. Yeah, ya man has it going on.

Let me ask you a question. I know that the two of you have only been dating for roughly, a couple of months, but are you serious about TJ?” Janita said. “I am. I love him, but,” Lisa said, before Janita cut her off. “Listen, you know that I’m going to always have your back, but when you’re wrong friend, I’m going to let you know that too.

When you love someone there’s no but. There’s no excuses. Now, you’re wrong for not being by his side right now. I know you battle anxiety, and that’s something you need to get help with, but it’s also something you should have talked to him about in advance, but since you didn’t, and you agreed to come to the party, support him. Have your man back.

I can tell that he’s serious about you. A guy like that isn’t going to bring a random chick around to meet his friends, family, and colleagues. He has a certain reputation, and he’s trying to uphold that,” Janita said. “But what if I don’t fit in that. I’m just a country girl from Lillington. He’s from the city.

I’ve only been here what, a year? What if I don’t fit into his social circle?” Lisa said. “Girl, you fit, or you wouldn’t be here. Just as you took that leap of faith to move here to start your catering business, you need to take a leap of faith with love, and the way your business is growing, you’re going to need more help. I’ve told you that you can make more money if you set up, and hire servers for events, but we’ll get to that later, I’m getting way off track.

Listen, put on your big girl draws and get your butt out there and support your man. Besides, I need a drink, or two, or three, or four, or more,” Tanesha said, before they all shared a laugh. “You’re right. I can do this,” Lisa said. Lisa went to socialize with TJ and his guests, while her friends went to mingle.

At midnight, the guests left, and Lisa took the time to apologize to TJ. “Baby, it’s okay. I just don’t want you to ever feel like you can’t talk to me, especially about your weaknesses or insecurities. We all have them,” TJ said. “Not you.

You’re perfect,” Lisa said. “I don’t know what part of me you’re looking at. I may look well put together on the outside, but on the inside, I am battling all sorts of demons. I know what it’s like to keep things hidden because you’re afraid of how people may perceive you.

My grand mom was the person I could always talk to, and when she passed away last year, and I didn’t talk to anyone about how I was feeling for like eight months. I was driving myself crazy, until one day I said, I’m going to get counseling. I was feeling all kinds of things. Mostly loneliness, because she was the only real family I had. I call some of the people that I work with family, because I’ve developed a bond with them over time, but my grandmother was literally the only real family I had.

My parents died when I was young. So, imagine what I’ve been dealing with. I still get choked up sometimes thinking about her, and sometimes I get angry. When I met you, it felt right. I knew you were the one, because I didn’t feel alone anymore.

It’s like you were made for me. I don’t know if people are made for a special someone, but if so, you are my destiny,” TJ said. “Aww, babe, come here,” Lisa said, before the two of them shared a kiss. “I think that I was more worried about what your friends would think, instead of considering your feelings, and again, I’m sorry. I promise to have your back from this day forward.

I too, look confident on the outside, but inside, I’m constantly battling anxiety, and it’s become exhausting. I moved here not only for my business, but also to be closer to my friends who all left me when we graduated high school, and they went to college at UNC. After college, they stayed in Charlotte, and I was left working on my family’s farm, until I got tired and said, that wasn’t the life for me. My parents supported my dreams, though. You know, my mom always taught me that God has perfect timing.

I believe he brought us together to help each other in a special way that only ones significant other can. My dad always taught me that a healthy relationship is about making one another better through service. He taught me that if each person focus on the person that they’re in a relationship with, then the relationship won’t fail, because I’m looking out for you, and you’re looking out for me. I feel like that’s what I have with you. You make me feel safe and protected.

Thank you, babe, TJ said. “You know, before we met, I was merely existing, but you gave me reason to live again. That’s why I spoil you, and want you to be with me every chance we get. I love you,” TJ said. Aww, I love you too, and there’s no complaints about the gifts on my end.

Receiving gifts is my love language… along with acts of service,” Lisa said. “I know,” TJ laughed. “And Quality time and physical touch is mine, so bring that booty over here, girl,” TJ said. “Oh, you want this?” Lisa said, with a tease, before straddling him on the velvet curved sofa in his bedroom. “I want all that,” he said, seductively, before giving Lisa another kiss and standing up to carry her to his bed.
