Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

Ever known someone who basically walked away from their blessings to pursue greener grass, in hopes that the greener grass would bring them lots of quick green money, love, or happiness? “Green grass” isn’t always about being with a “better” person, but it always has something to do with what we think is better… not what God thinks, but it’s more of leaning to our own understanding, if you will and it always has something to do with the three temptations of sin. Let’s examine the three temptations of sin:

1 John 2:16 (NIV)

“For everything in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–comes not from the Father but from the world.”

We see it, we want it for ourselves. If we feel it, we don’t stop until that feeling is satisfied. We desire praise from others, power, and bragging rights… None of these things are from God. Humbleness can get you further than pride can, when you humble yourself before God.

Want to know how to distinguish a faith move from a move that stems from your own understanding? A faith move won’t have anything to do with the three temptations which are listed above. In other words, the faith move won’t be about you! In fact, you’ll think it’s insane! However, after a while you’ll find peace and take the leap of faith and do what God has told you to do. It will still seem crazy, but you will have peace in knowing that God has you!

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

When we make moves based on our own understanding, we are basically making a move that doesn’t have anything to do with God, and everything to do with how we feel at the time. The horrific thing about making moves while in our feelings is that the move is self centered. We must be careful as children of God because God should be first, yes, even before ourselves! When we make a move based solely on our feelings, we will do anything to achieve the desired result, even things outside the will of God! Yikes! That’s scary!

We must make sure that we move in faith and within God’s will or else, sudden moves could cost us everything. Making moves without God’s permission in hopes that it will yield the best possible outcome, is like counting your chickens before they hatch. Don’t put your trust in yourself, other people, or what could possibly happen, especially when you’re moving by way of your own understanding. If you walk away from something God has blessed you with, just because it’s hard, in pursuit of something you see as easier and more beneficial when doing it your way, you will end up disappointed. Don’t do things your way and expect God to bless it.

We can’t do His will, our way. Sometimes life will be hard. Sometimes we will have to put in extra effort. Sometimes we will have to wait a long time. Sometimes we will have to be still, even though our feelings are making us anxious.

Whatever you do, make sure that you make your next move your best move, by listening to the voice of God, because whether He says, “Be still,” or “Move forward,” you can be sure that His Way is most rewarding, and no matter what obstacles we face, it always works for our good when we choose to follow Him.  ❤️

  1. Your life suffering and pains has made you VICTORIOUS because without suffering we couldn’t testify nor could you witness the wonder of our GOD.. Many people thinks suffering and pain is shame but its really how we gained the right to live and endure our purpose.
