Focus: Turning a stuck place into a straight path.

What is the one thing that a person is able to change when they’re faced with a situation that’s out of their control?.. Their mindset. Our minds are the most powerful and most valuable asset we have in life. Not our money, homes, cars, stock, businesses, etc… but a gift that God gave us when He created us in His image. Our minds are our personal treasures, and what we do with our treasure determines the course of our lives.
Think about this. If a person’s brain dead, they’re considered dead. They’re not dead if they don’t possess a home, car, bank account or even aside from material things, let’s say they don’t have good health. They’re still not dead. As long as their mind keeps going, so can they, even if you can change nothing else about your life, you can always change your mind, but where and what you choose to focus on makes all the difference.
Have you ever been in a daze and someone asked you, “where are you?” You may have replied, “I’m right here.” “No you’re not. Physically you are, but your mind is elsewhere,” they may have said.
I want to talk to you about being stuck. Whether you’ve been stuck with an illness, stuck in a dead end job or unemployment, stuck with a toxic family, stuck in jail, whatever the case may be. Don’t allow your mind to become stuck, because that’s when you’ll really stop moving. Listen, I know what it feels like to be in a situation that never seems to change. I know what it feels like when you’ve done all you can but you still don’t see much or any progression. I know what it feels like to think and explore options until you’re all out of ideas, or you feel like throwing in the towel because nothing has changed. I get your frustration, but as uncomfortable as you may feel right now, you can’t allow what you go through to get inside of you. Guard your heart, which mainly boils down to protecting your peace. How do you protect your peace? By keeping your mind on Christ. Focus. Isaiah 26:3, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Do you trust God, even in the “stuck” areas or in that “stuck place” of your life? If God leads you to a place in life in which you’re powerless to change or control, He has lead you there in order for you to trust Him. He’s saying, “wait right here.” And we’re like, “what you want me to do?” We’re like, “time is running out. God I need you to help me do this, that and the third. We become anxious. The bills are piling up, the baby needs new shoes, mama in the hospital, been looking for a job for months and haven’t gotten a call back, got a bad report from the doctor, lost a best friend… and so on and so forth… and you feel stuck… No progression, you’re uncomfortable, minimum relief, and God sees you trying to control the situation and He says, “Didn’t I tell you to wait?” You’ve dug a bigger hole by being hard headed and trying to get yourself out. “Yes, God. But surely, there’s something I should be doing while I wait,” and you know what He’s saying. “Trust me.” Trusting in me, is doing. You’re acting in faith, when you trust me. You’re doing, when you’re obedient.” And you’re like, “Okay, Jesus. But nothing is moving. I’m not moving. I can’t see anything moving! Okay, I just seen a snail pass me with a turtle… I’m still not moving. God, what is going on?” And God is like, “Do you trust your perception, or do you trust me? If you trust me, then focus on me.” Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Your own understanding will tell you that because you are powerless to change certain things, your situation will never change. Your own understanding will tell you that because a snail and a turtle appears to be making more progression than you, you may as well give up on your hopes and dreams… God is saying, 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” We must believe wholeheartedly, that God not only can, but will pull us out of the stuck place of our lives. His grace is all we need to get out of those stuck areas in our lives. We need His help, He doesn’t need ours! He didn’t lead you this far to drop you off in a ditch and keep it moving. You’re going with Him, but your mind and your heart has to follow Him first. As long as you keep looking around you, or at your current situation, you’ll always feel stuck. Just like when you’re in a daze, your mind has to be elsewhere, not on where you are physically, but on Heaven, on Jesus. Lose that defeated mindset so that even in the midst of what you go through, you’re a winner! Your mindset is what’s going to pull you up out the ditch. If you want to help yourself, your mind has to rise above your issues. You must acknowledge God in all your ways, because even in that stuck place, He is still God. He’s still good, all powerful, omnipotent, magnificent, all that and more! Acknowledge Him through it all, because only He is able to turn a stuck place into a straight path. ❤️
