How to let go and let God: Breaking free of emotional bondage and becoming your best self through Christ. (Pt. 3)

This is part three, so if you haven’t read one and two of “How to let go and let God” then go back and read those first. There is valuable information you don’t want to skip over, that will help you on your journey of healing.

Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

You can forget, but do you want to?

Now that you’ve went to God and given Him that load you’ve been carrying around, whether it’s a financial burden, failed relationship, betrayal, disappointment, childhood trauma or whatever burden you’ve been trying to bear alone, the next step is to forget about it. What I mean by forget is simply this; stop dwelling on the problem and stop trying to supervise God to see what He does with it when you give it to Him. It’s no longer your business or problem, it belongs to God now. It’s His problem now, and He’s not intimidated by it in any way. No matter what the issue is, it will work for your good, if you allow the Lord to have His way. Don’t spend another minute of your life worrying about situations that are out of your control, to include your past. Luke 12:25, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” You can’t go back and change things, but God can change your ending. It doesn’t have to result in disaster. Philippians 4:6-7 (CEV) says, “Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.” Stay in prayer. Prayer is simply conversing with God. When negative thoughts come to your mind, cast them back out. Tell God what you need in that moment. If you need strength to keep going, ask Him. If you need peace, fix your mind on Him and keep it on Him. If you need wisdom, ask. The Word says, God will give it to you without finding fault in you. Whatever you need, He is. The real battle is, getting over ourselves and getting out of our feelings. Be honest with yourself. Are you willing to let the offense go? If you are willing, the how to becomes clearer, because you’re no longer in the way and your heart is open to hear from God.

1 Peter 5:7 (CEV)
God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.
