When running a race, you don’t look behind you because looking back can cause you to fall. You don’t look at who’s in front of you because if you’re more focused on who’s ahead of you, you could get discouraged. When running a race, you focus on the finish line, because that’s what winners do. I know you’ve heard the phrase, “In it to win it.” That’s the mindset we should have as the body of Christ!
So, what are we running for? I mean, what is our goal? HEAVEN! Everything we are and everything we do in life should should be motivated by that goal. The goal of being reconciled with God for an eternity.
The Bible makes it clear that we aren’t saved by our works, but by faith (Galatians 2:16). So, in running this race, it isn’t about always getting it right. Jesus has made us right before God (Romans 5:1). The main thing we should be focused on is having a strong finish, and attaining that goal can only be accomplished by faith in God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe that if we’re more focused on the main goal (Heaven), then we will achieve our purpose here on earth and the rate of speed will not matter.
You see, when you’re focused more on speed than endurance, you begin to compromise who God created you to be. Jesus said in Matthew 24:13, “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” You can’t endure if you don’t have faith! 🤷🏾♀️We’re running a race and picture this, all of a sudden a hurdle appears, a vicious animal begins to chase us, and rocks start flying at our face. Life can feel like this sometimes.
Though we’re faced with the impossible we know that nothing is impossible for God! We don’t run this race with human logic, we run it with the mind of Christ. I believe that we really experience the peace that surpasses all understanding when we realize that when we are in Christ, we are exactly where we need to be. Sure, time will say that you should’ve did things differently in the past and maybe you could be better off or better at something, but the good news is, Jesus gave us a clean slate. You wanna know what that clean slate did?
It put us right where we need to be, in life and with God! So, don’t ever think you blew your chance at something. Don’t worry about what’s behind you or who’s ahead of you. If you are in Christ, you’re in the right place at the right time. Run your race, at your pace, because reaching your destiny isn’t about how fast you get there… it’s about getting there.
You may have made the wrong turn, got in the wrong lane, went down the wrong road… but as long as you’re trusting in God to get you to where you need to be, He’s right there to recalculate the route. You may feel like it’s taking you longer, and it may be, but rest assured that you will get there, and you will arrive on time. Remember the next two scriptures whenever you feel frustrated with your pace, and instead of being discouraged, be encouraged! God bless.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
